You have hired us to do your wedding. You have spent the big money. You have waited many months for us to complete your film. You come to pick up your production at our studio. You are excited. I am happy to say for some lucky brides, you may get an even bigger surprise that you really didn’t expect. If we have the time and materiel from your wedding footage, you get a surprise:)
We LOVE to surprise brides.
It’s called Bonus Features and it’s part of your DVD menu:
If you have a insane bridal party and you happen to be crazy yourself, you may get a Blooper Reel. If you have spent the time to choreograph your first dance, we will have a completely uninterrupted version in the bonus feature section. But by far our favorite Bonus Feature to produce is the room flip. We set this up for the wedding that takes place in the same room as the reception. It’s called the flip it’s fun to watch time fly by.
This is the amazing Continental Room at the Cincinnati Netherland Hilton in downtown Cincinnati. The wedding has just ended and the guests have moved to the foyer for cocktails. What you’re about to witness took over 80 minutes to turn over and it’s incredible to see what this many people can do in that amount of time.
enjoy,

Pictures of your wedding are SO important and you need a good photographer at your wedding to capture your day. But video can capture segments in time a photograph can not. In my 20 years of shooting weddings I have NEVER had a bride she was sorry she hired a videographer.
Nobody knew this was going to happen.
Just watch…

Kendra and Chris: your production is finished, and it’s wonderful. The clip below is just the first few minutes. Enjoy! I’ll be in touch this week about getting the DVDs to you.
IMHO, as a whole, women seem to be much more sensitive to detail than men. (Note how some men dress?!). Because of their sensitivity, I am proud to have three fantastic women on staff here at Lifetime.
Meet Ellen. She’s been editing for Lifetime for more than 4 years. In the past I’ve asked her to allow me to put other clips of her work on the Lifecasting blog. She’s always refused, saying that her work needs to be better. With Chris and Kendra’s wedding, though, she said: “This is the one; post it.” I feel blessed to have Ellen on our team.
This is the magic Ellen works: She is given the raw footage (all the film shot at the wedding). Ellen then must edit less than 20% of the entire footage (the best shots) into an artistic and heartfelt portrayal of the couple on their wedding day. What Ellen presents is the couple’s story. Her goal is the have the viewers feel that they have a personal connection with the bride and groom.
Ellen chooses the particular images and music that evoke in the viewers the underlying emotion of a very special people on their very special day. Of course, It’s the skill of the videographer — in this case the incomparable work of my partner in crime, Dan Shallenberger — that gives the editor excellent material to work with; but it’s editors like Ellen who provide the final production its heart and soul.
This is her Lifecasting debut.

On November 1st Jody McAdams spent a little over 4 minutes on a dance floor at Manor House telling her son Ryan how much she loved him. (((Gets up on Lifecasting soapbox))), Please invite a videographer to your wedding. It will be the greatest day of your life, I promise. I don’t care if it’s Lifetime or not. Just please have someone with a camera that can capture motion in the same room because these moments in time, they will not happen again.
((((steps off))))
Yes, Jody, Ryan and Jill the wait is over, it’s done. I thought you’d like one more sneak-peak. It’s a masterpiece.
I’ll be calling you soon:)
The amazing Storm Bennett does the opening and close beautifully.

Ben & Jess, you were possibly one of the most fun couples I have ever worked with! What a blast your wedding day was… full of goofyness and laughter and fun. I loved the iPhone proposal moment; priceless.
Anyhow, for all the non-potato aficionados out there, I should explain the potato reference. On the back of the program, Ben wrote how Love is God’s potato. He explained how versatile a potato was, relative to flowers, and how this flexibility and versatility can compare to love. It was touching, and very funny!
Oh, and the Rock Band setup, especially you all playing as a new family… awesome!! What else can I say… you guys rocked!

Keith & Lindsay
SO, all I did was ask Linds a question: “What do you love about Keith?” (((long pause, a smile, then her lip quivered))) “Oh..you’re going to make me cry Matt” and she did. I kept my mouth shut and then Lindsay said an amazing thing: “I just love him, he’s my best friend and I’m going to marry him today, that’s all”. The words “best friend” stuck in my head and inspired the following trailer. If you watch closely you can see the moment she teared up. Sorry.
I would like to say this wedding was a huge success largely due to the talents of these three incredible women and their staff:
Nancy Dawson with BrideFace- This was our 17th wedding together in the last year. Nancy really is a great friend to me. She ALWAYS has the bride and her bridemaids laughing and in a good mood. It’s so easy to find great shots with her in the room:) I also love that fact that the quality make-up she uses is cry proof.
April Rentz with Bluebird Photography (assisted by Niki)- I have mentioned this before on the Lifecasting Blog, the photographer and videographer must work as a team or they are working against the bride. April is so creative and fun. I love working with her. The perfect teammate for any videographer. I have already seen a few photos from the day and they’re beautiful.
Julie Schmidt with Cincy Event Planning (assisted by Lindsey Bayer)- This was our first wedding together, I sincerely doubt it will be our last. I believe a lot more of you will be hearing about them too. THEY WERE absolutely fantastic! The day ran like a fine Swiss watch because of these two. I was truly blown away.
Again, thank you all for working with Lifetime. We had a blast!
So Linds, here ya go. I think this is one of my best kid.
I’m sorry If I make you cry again. :0)

Well, Brienne, you had reason to be excited… and everything went perfect! Well, except having to sew up your dress, but even that turned out just fine.
When I walked in your parent’s house and met you, Derrick and the wedding party, I knew that would be a fun day… and I was not disappointed! Brienne, you’re wedding day was a blast, starting from the house and spectacular lakefront gazebo all the way to the party at The Madison Grand Ballroom led by Nemar Maize. And working with Brad at Photosmith was a pleasure as well.
You guys were such an awesome couple! It felt like you were made for each other. And the support and love from your families could easily be felt.
You video is almost complete, but I wanted to share a preview with you. Here’s a highlight of your spectacular day.
Enjoy!
Dan

My father took me to my first Reds game at Riverfront Stadium in September 1974, I was 11 years old. All I remember about the game itself was Bobby Tolan hit a single in the bottom of the ninth and the Reds won. Dad brought an old AM transistor radio and pointed toward the 700 WLW radio booth as I heard ” And this one belongs to the Reds” broadcasted over the small speaker. “The man broadcasting that is in that booth right there” dad told me. It was Marty Brennaman. I have been a Reds and a Marty fan since that day.
Thirty-four years later I helped videotaped Marty’s little girl’s wedding day. Ashley Brennanman married James Shirley on January 12, 2008. I was honored and scared to death after I booked the gig and really right up until the wedding day. As I walked into the church Marty came up to me and said “We’re really glad you’re here”. I felt fine. The wedding was a huge hit and Ashley’s comments are still the first one you’ll see when you read our testimonials.
Dan Shallenberger’s incredilbe editing is featured here in this clip with a song that Ashley chose, it fits perfect!
I know she still reads the Lifecasting blog from time to time, so Happy Anniversary Ashley. Our best to you both:)

My dear friend Steph Carson (who I know simply as “Carson”) opened her brand new incredible studio located at 39 (what were the odds) Court Street in Cincinnati last Sunday. This also happened to be her 39th birthday. She served food, had purple “Cold Duck” champagne and invited friends, family and past couples with their children & pets to celebrate. We all have our picture taken on this HUGE awesome purple couch. I was lucky enough to be invited with my camera along with some of Cincinnati’s best wedding vendors:
Nancy from Brideface
Katie from Katie Elfers Inspired Floral Design
Steve from Glass Eye Video
Alison From Aviva Events
Laura from Alchemy Albums
Heather and Joe, a wonderful couple that Carson, Katie, Nancy and I are working with in March were in town from New York. I LOVED spending some time with them before the big day. BTW, Heather I got some great stuff of you guys and Joe’s mom Mary as you’ll see.
Carson, thank you so much for being my partner at weddings, my mentor and a critic on my work. But most of all thank you for teaching me how to see the world a litte bit differently through a lens.
May 2009 be your best year ever:)
Enjoy this memory,
